Ovulation prediction and ovulation confirmation are two different jobs. LH tests predict — they tell you a surge is underway. Basal body temperature confirms — after ovulation, progesterone raises resting temperature by roughly 0.3°C (0.5°F), and a sustained rise across three or more days suggests ovulation occurred.
Cervical mucus is another signal: it typically becomes clear, slippery and stretchy in the days before ovulation, then abruptly dries or thickens afterwards.
The clinical confirmation is a mid-luteal progesterone blood test, usually drawn about seven days after suspected ovulation. That is a conversation to have with a clinician rather than something to interpret from home tests alone.
